Hamish Jeffcott

  • Brecon Fringe Book

    • Venue: Brecon Tap
    • Time: 6:00pm
    • Info: This is what Hamish says: 'My interest for music started when I was 17 years old after my life took a sudden turn when I got a brain injury during the last rugby match of the season. My biggest inspirations are, Damien rice, Paolo Nutini, Newton Faulkner, Jack Johnson and David Gray The best artist I have seen live is probably Jack Johnson as much as Newton Faulkner and Damien Rice were very close to him! My favourite thing about performing is inspiring others to pick up and instrument and do the same as its great! I find myself writing about depression and overcoming the obstacles often I had a very difficult 3 years after my injury and writing the songs helped me push through that and express how I felt I think i have accomplished lots in the little amount of time that I have played music, having a tour of the French Alps, playing in the Dominican Republic but I think my favourite achievement is helping a young band get themselves known and onto the circuit and now they are doing great and want to write and keep playing I want to travel and enjoy the world, and I want to spread my music as far and wide as it can take me I can't say I use too many gadgets, I have my ipad but that's old and a bit poop. I use my mac at home to record my music for YouTube and my camera to shoot the films so they are pretty handy. But my beautiful Taylor guitar has to be the best gadget. Any advice I'd give is just go for it! Make the leap, practice, improve, watch other people always be willing to give a helping hand as you never know where it may get you.' Phew! He's a talkative chap, isn't he? Indie-pop, singer-songwriter

Midnight Hour

  • Midnight Hour 2017

    Saturday 11th August

    • Venue: The Gremlin
    • Time: 1:30pm
    • Info: The South Wales Argus said... "Midnight Hour are a four piece band playing well known songs from the 60's and 70's. I was told they were all well seasoned musicians with a wealth of experience playing the clubs and pubs of Cardiff and the South Wales Valleys. To be frank I was expecting the same old numbers being trotted out by unenthusiastic players like so many bands on the pub circuit, but right from the first number the singer grabs your attention with some wailing harmonica and gutsy vocals. Their set continues at pace with the band clearly enjoying every minute of playing live. No room for any bored musicians in this band. The lead guitarist, when he's given the nod by the dripping wet frontman can let rip on the fretboard with the best of them. This is no ordinary covers band, no, this is a covers band that you need to see."

Moon Goose

  • Moon Goose

    Saturday 11th August

    • Venue: The Muse
    • Time: 8:45pm
    • Info: Space prog rock from the Black Mountains. Moon Goose has crawled out of the primal swamp and taken a good look around. The resulting bird has flapped madly around a barn with a load of guitars strapped to one wing and a synthesizer on the other, while it flies repeatedly into some drums. Made out of bits of comet and whalebone, the music that people are already calling ‘epic’ and ‘unlistenable’ throws a jagged beam of light in the growing darkness, to reveal some people using a barn as a giant amplifier. Duchamp put a toilet in an art gallery. Moon goose put music in a bag and shook it around until it was in bits, poured the bits out, and set fire to them. It’s the sound of a dragon colliding with an asteroid. If you enjoy things like gneiss, rare cheese, and strange ideas followed through to an illogical conclusion, you’ll love Moon Goose.
