Arts and community venue

Thursday 8th August

  • The Washboard Resonators

    The Washboard Resonators

    • Time: 8:00pm
    • Info: The Washboard Resonators are a fantastic duo of guitar/banjo and washboard. They play footstomping blues, ragtime, swing and folk like it was on the street corners of America in the 1920s, 30s & 40s. The band has played many gigs, including Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival, C FAB Folk Festival in Lincolnshire and many pubs and bars. This duo is perfect for situations where something acoustic, but energetic and lively is required.   FRINGE WRITE-UP: The Washboard Resonators - Washboards, kazoos and Dobro guitars – that’s where the ‘resonator’ part comes in here. Tasteful, smart hipsters you might say. Very old songs you might say. Still worth an hour of any Fringe-goer’s time. I cannot help but think though (I like them, I really do), that if they’d got a few more of their mates involved they could pull off some Spike Jones routines (Cocktails For Two, That Old Black Magic etc). The Washboard Resonators play The Muse on Fringe Thursday at 8.30pm.

Now teamed up as KILLJOYS with powerhouse drummer Ty Walker and fronted by the charismatic beauty Jess Perry who shines qualities of Tay Jardine (Sainte) and Lynn Gunn (Pvris) together they are ready and set to ignite a fire! Editor's Note: We are Killjoys, we play pop music. This is what they say and who is going to argue with that? Not me anyway, I’m a music loving sheep. Probably the best promo pic this year. A cross between that advert for Scottish Widows, based on that film The French Lieutenant's Woman, something out of Blade Runner and a hair dye packet in Savers. The effect from Jess Perry is quite stunning however. Budding pop stars take note: this is how you do a publicity pic. Killjoys play The Muse on Saturday at 7.30pm.
