  • The Washboard Resonators

    The Washboard Resonators

    • Time: 8:30pm
    • Info: The Washboard Resonators are a fantastic duo of guitar/banjo and washboard. They play footstomping blues, ragtime, swing and folk like it was on the street corners of America in the 1920s, 30s & 40s. The band has played many gigs, including Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival, C FAB Folk Festival in Lincolnshire and many pubs and bars. This duo is perfect for situations where something acoustic, but energetic and lively is required.   FRINGE WRITE-UP: The Washboard Resonators - Washboards, kazoos and Dobro guitars – that’s where the ‘resonator’ part comes in here. Tasteful, smart hipsters you might say. Very old songs you might say. Still worth an hour of any Fringe-goer’s time. I cannot help but think though (I like them, I really do), that if they’d got a few more of their mates involved they could pull off some Spike Jones routines (Cocktails For Two, That Old Black Magic etc). The Washboard Resonators play The Muse on Fringe Thursday at 8.30pm.

  • little red

    Little Red

    • Time: 8:00pm
    • Info:  Bath-based Little Rêd creates emotionally charged electro-pop described by Going Solo as "dreamy soundscape". Originally from Cardiff, Ellie is a skilled guitarist, singer and songwriter. She has been performing her own material since the age of fourteen, receiving television and radio recognition under previous guises and now establishing her own sound as Little Rêd.                               FRINGE WRITE-UP: Little Rêd Musically dreamy. A euphoric explosion of electric pop. Speaks to you like something from a dream. Three things that have been said about Little Rêd AKA Ellie. Okay, we get the idea, especially when they add that she’s got a bit of Kate Bush about her. Ah, the Bushmeister. She plays The Muse on Fringe Friday night at 6pm. Do we need Little Rêd’s music is a hook-laden soundscape? Yes, we do! In spades. Possibly the hit of The Fringe, so get an early tea.

    The Jaw

    • Time: 10:00pm
    • Info:  Described by Yack Magazine as 'serving up a chin slapping plate full of balls with a heaping side order of ovaries...sure to melt your face to a slimy puddle of awesome', The Jaw are a never note perfect wit-post punk trio from Brixton. One third harsh on the ear, two thirds easy on the eye, they sing/shout weird pop songs about such everyday subjects as finding and falling in love with decapitated human hands and philosophising on what would happen in the world if it turned out god was gay. Performances from The Jaw often feature levels of boy-girl swordplay, radioactive makeup and skin on show some conservatives may find offensive. Amen.
