Pilgrims Restaurant and Tearooms is situated at the Cathedral Close, Brecon Cathedral. Pilgrims and Musictown present a  three day programme of music at Pilgrims which is a family friendly venue with lots of safe, green space.

I can’t wait to hear more!” These are just some of the comments that people have made about Stir Ye Girls since they decided to play together as a trio. Mary Dunsford (harp, vocals), Carolyn Francis (fiddle, border pipes, vocals) and Bev Whelan (flute, whistles, vocals) bring a wealth of experience to their work with Stir Ye Girls. As well as working together as music teachers, inspiring children throughout Cumbrian schools to play folk music, Mary, Carolyn and Bev are all seasoned performers who are equally comfortable in a small, intimate venue or on a big concert stage. Stir Ye Girls’ roots in England, Ireland and Wales are reflected in their repertoire, which spans obscure manuscripts from Cumbria right through to haunting original songs, Welsh tunes and foot-tapping reels from the western seaboard of Ireland. Their arrangements are quirky, playful and often poignant, stirring the emotions right through from pathos to joy.

    • Info: Founded in 2013 by singer songwriter Tanya Walker, the Alive & Kickin’ Community Choir Brecon is a choir for people of all backgrounds and singing abilities. Thanks to Tanya’s enthusiasm and boundless energy, what started with only a handful of members has now grown to a well-established and popular choir performing at many events in Brecon and beyond.     Frazz Parade 2019

    • Info: The festival Frazz Parade will cross town led by Samba Brecon, all are welcome to join in, meeting at Theatr Brycheiniog at 2.30pm for a 3pm start and finishing at Brecon Cathedral at 3.30pm. Now known as the Frazz Parade to mark the celebration of both the Jazz and Fringe Festivals, the tradition of a carnival parade has a long history for the town of Brecon. In the past the Adamant Band, and the Kruger Carnival Band from Holland, were among those leading the festivities and today Samba Brecon do a fantastic job. Come along in fancy dress, brightly coloured cloths or as you are to take part- the more the merrier! under 12s must be accompanied by an adult.

Brecon Fringe Festival 2019

Brecon Fringe Festival 2019 takes place from Thursday, August 8 - Sunday, August 11. There are 20+ venues with live music and other events taking place all over town.
